Jewel of the Forest II by garion Jewel of the Forest II by garion
Another view of the Rufous-backed Kingfisher. (Part I is found here: [link])

The Rufous-backed Kingfisher (Ceyx rufidorsa) also known as the Oriental Dwarf Kingfisher, is one of the most beautiful kingfishers found in the tropics belonging to the Alcedinidae family. Its striking orange and yellow plumage is a sight to behold when it flits past, a brilliantly colored jewel with wings against the dark green of the tropical rainforest.

Here it has just caught a prey in its beak, probably a small forest lizard or skink.

Fullview for best results.
